6 - 2 ( 3 (x + 1) - 5 ) 

= 6 - 2 (3 * x + 3 * 1 - 5) 

= 6 - 2 (3x + 3 - 5) 

= 6 - 2 (3x - 2) 

Now the outer brackets: 

= 6 - 2 * 3x - 2 * - 2 

= 6 - 6x + 4 

= -6x + 10.
