We change both fractions to the same denominator so that we can compare:

[tex] \dfrac{2}{6} = \dfrac{2 \times 4}{6 \times 4} = \dfrac{8}{24} [/tex]

[tex] \dfrac{3}{8} = \dfrac{3 \times 3}{8 \times 3} = \dfrac{9}{24} [/tex]

Compare:

[tex] \dfrac{9}{24} \ \textgreater \ \dfrac{8}{24} [/tex]

[tex] \dfrac{3}{8} \ \textgreater \ \dfrac{2}{6} [/tex]

[tex]\text {Answer: Peter ate a greater amount.}[/tex]
