Crime of ’73.

In 1873 Congress had established the Coinage Act of 1873 (or Mint Act of 1873) which was a general revision of a law that led to the discontinuation of  the minting of silver dollars. It was later denounced and  referred to as Crime of ’73 by the people who wanted inflation.
