The perimeter of a local dog park measures 158 feet. If the length of the park is 2 feet less than 1/2 the width, what are the dimensions of the dog park?

P = 2(L + W)
P = 158
L = 1/2W - 2

158 = 2(1/2W - 2 + W)
158 = 2(1.5W - 2)
158 = 3W - 4
158 + 4 = 3W
162 = 3W
162/3 = W
54 = W <=== the width is 54 ft

L = 1/2W - 2
L = 1/2(54) - 2
L = 54/2 - 2
L = 27 - 2
L = 25 <=== the length is 25 ft
