The Gulf Stream is a powerful current in the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf Stream starts in the Gulf of Mexico and goes into the Atlantic where the tip of Florida is, accelerating along the eastern coastlines of the United States and Newfoundland. And it also affects the climate. The Gulf Stream gives more than “all the world’s rivers combined,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. And, it also helps warm the European climate (because it brings warm water north).
