2) Jacob stated that he solved the equation 2x + 3 = 5 using the addition property and multiplication property of equality. Which statement is true?

A. Jacob added -3 to both sides and multiplied both sides by 1/2.
B. Jacob added -3 to both sides and multiplied both sides but 2.
C. Jacob added 3 to both sides and multiplied both sides but 1/2.
D. Jacob added 3 to both sides and multiplied both sides but 2.

For 1, the answer is C because the 6 (amount of points for a touchdown) is subtracted, meaning they did not get those points. For 2, the answer is A because Jacob would have to subtract 3 in order to get rid of it on one side. Then he would have to divide by 2, or in this case multiply 1/2 since it is the same thing, to get his answer.
