Why doesn't the commutative property work for subtraction

Because, the outcome (answer) my become a negative
(it depends what you're working with actually) Like say for instance if you do this
1 - 2 that would give you a negative 1 (-1)
But , if you do 2 - 1 , it would give give you a positive one (+1 )
