What effect did factories have on the cities in which they were located?

Factories located to cities during the Industrial Revolution. The cities gained a population increase because factories provided jobs for low-skilled workers. The influx of workers pushed development within cities.

Environmentally, factories created a lot pollution for our air and safety hazards for workers.
