The Pax Romana was a period of roughly 200 years (from around 27 BC to 180 AD) during which the entire Roman Empire was at peace and not expanding. This was unprecedented and allowed for domestic growth.

Pax Romana (Roman Peace) is a Latin expression used to refer to the long period of relative peace and stability the Roman Empire experienced between the year 27 BC and the year 180 AC. This period of Pax Romana allowed the Empire to achieve its greatest economic development and its greatest territorial extent.
