Constantinople was located in between Europe and Asia, and as people from Europe wanted to travel to the Holy Land for Crusades or the Silk Route in China, many people had to stop by at constantinople to restock, allowing the city to have a large amounts of customers to buy products, pay tolls, etc..... helping it become a wealthy city
