The thickness of a human hair is 1.2*10^-3. The thickness of a shoelace is 3.6*10^-1. The shoelace is how many times thicker than the human hair?

To answer this question, we must divide.

[tex] \frac{3.6*10^-1}{1.2*10^-3} [/tex]

You can evaluate for both and normally divide them in standard form.

[tex] \frac{0.36}{0.0012} [/tex]

Which in the end results in 300. The shoelace is 300 times thicker than the human hair.
