how are mean and median similar?

Sort of..
The mean is all the numbers added together then divided by the amount of numbers there were.
Ex~1,2,3,4,5
Add them all together: 15
Divide by 5 because there is five numbers 15/5=3

The median is the middle number once you put then in order from smallest to largest (or the other way around).
Ex~ 3,5,2,4,1
Rearrange: 1,2,3,4,5
Find the Middle: 3
The median is 3 because it is in the middle of them all once you put them in smallest to largest.
