Greenhouse effect. The heat goes in through the windows and doesn't get out, that's why you shouldn't leave animals in hot cars during the summer

A greenhouse effect—heat was let in through the windows and some was trapped inside.

This is why a car gets so hot when sitting out in the sun. Heat can't get out, and more and more is being let in from the glass of the windows. This heats up the car quickly.

Hope this helped. Good luck!
