The word "atom" comes from the Greek word for "indivisible". In what way are atoms indivisible?

atoms arent indivisible. Atoms consist of protons, electrons, neutrons, & quarks & a whole bunch of subatomic particles.

the believe that all objects are made up of atoms states that an atom is the smallest part of an objects and can be broken down no further than a single atom so the atom it self can be considered indivisible because it can't be broken down any further than that....  hope that helped
