First, set up your equation.
_(x+4)_ = 7
2
multiply both sides by 2 to cross out the 2 on the bottom
_(x+4)_ *2 = 7*2
2
x+4 =14
subtract 4 from both sides
x+4= 14
-4 -4
x=10
