The triangle has another smaller triangle inserted into it as shown by the parallel lines.

By applying the side splitter theorem, the sides of the triangle becomes

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{11}{44}=\frac{x}{36} \\ \text{This means the proportion formed by the two lines on one side is equal to that formed by the two lines on the other side} \\ \text{Cross multiply and you have;} \\ 44x=11\times36 \\ x=\frac{11\times36}{44} \\ x=\frac{1\times36}{4} \\ x=9 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Therefore x = 9
