Solving the above equation for x, we get:

[tex]\begin{gathered} 0.05x+1.7=0.06x+1.02 \\ 0.01x=1.7-1.02 \\ 0.01x=0.68 \\ x=68 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Therefore, you must add 68 ounces of the 5% alcohol solution.
