Rule 1: Multiply by 2 then add 1 starting from 1.
Rule 2: Divide by 2 then add 4 starting from 40.

Rule 1:

1, 3, 7, 15, 31, 63, 127, 255, 511, 1023 etc

Rule 2:

40, 24, 16, 12, 10, 9, 8.5, 8.25, 8.125, 8.0625 etc
