The relative id master role in the active directory is a domain-level role.

The role of FSMO is serviced, each hosted separately on a DC in an AD forest. Each role has a specific purpose.FSMO roles are configured at the forest or domain level and are scope-specific, as shown below.

For example, in a forest with two domains, each domain hosting the RID master role has one DC (two in total), and only one DC hosts the schema master role.
