You will be sketching a model building made of toothpicks and marshmallows. The building must be at
least two floors (stories) high. It should be able to stand on its own and withstand shaking without
toppling over. In this approach, what problem are you trying to solve? What are some of the fixed, chosen,
and adjustable design features?
The problem that is being solved by this approach is the Structural Integrity Problem. The definition for this is given below.
What is a structural integrity problem?
Structural Integrity is the ability of a structure to carry the load intended for it without crumbling, fracturing, deforming, or experiencing fatigue.
What are some of the fixed, chosen, and adjustable design features?
For any structure, the fixed feature is the foundation, the chosen and adjustable design features are any other structures that are above the ground or above the foundation.
