these are all examples of the checks and balances system!! the first one shows the legislative branch checking the executive branch, as the president nominates supreme court justices; the second one shows the judicial branch checking the legislative branch, as it declares an act (presumably a law) unconstitutional; the third shows the legislative branch checking the executive branch as they overrode a presidential decision to veto an act.
