What is the solution to the following system of equations:

7x+2y=24
8x+2y=30

Answer:

7x +2y =24 --------- (i)

8x +2y= 30 ---------(ii)

Subtracting eqn. (i) & (ii)

7x +2y =24

8x +2y= 30

___________

-x = - 6

Putting the value of x in eqn. (i)

7*6 +2y =24

42 +2y =24

2y =-18

y = - 9

Hence, x=6 and y= - 9
