Well they're both large proteins. 
They're both transmembrane proteins 
They both -can- be involved in transmitter signals from outside of the cell to the inside (especially Ca2+ transporters). 
They both dissipate cellular energy is some way (receptors can use ATP, GTP and ion gradients; transporters can use ion gradients and ATP). 
They both have binding sites for compounds.
