firstly, label the equations.

y = x-2 — (1)
2x + 2y = 4 — (2)

from (1), we can tell that y is the subject of the equation.

sub (1) into (2) :
2x + 2 ( x-2 ) = 4
2x + 2x - 4 = 4
4x = 8
x = 2

sub x = 2 into (1)
y
= 2-2
= 0
