Answer: The experiments of J.J. Thompson showed that all atoms contained negatively charged subatomic particles or electrons.

He used cathode ray tubes for this experiment, thus proving the theory mentioned above. This British scientist has discovered that particles in cathode rays also have a thousand times smaller mass than any known atom. He was awarded the 1906 Nobel Prize for his contribution to science.
