Answer:

Convert the mixed number 8 3/5 to 43/5

your equation should look like 2y+43/5=33

Move all terms not containing  y to the right side of the equation.

which means subtract 43/5 from both sides then you should get 2y=122/5

then to get y alone you will divide 2 to each side which will give you 61/5

in decimal form its 12.2

mixed fraction is 121/5
