Alice Paul is an example of rebellion that caused significant change because she helped the 19th Amendment come about. She would protest in front of the White House and would be arrested for it. While she was incarcerated she went on a hunger strike and she was faced with cruel and unusual punishment for this (forced feeding). If she died from not eating, her death would be considered a martyr and was on the government's hands.
