The English Bill of Rights created separation of powers and prevented the King and/or Queen from having too much power over their people. It also encouraged the right to free speech and elections.

In American democracy, there are checks and balances in place and separation of powers to keep one branch of government from exerting too much power over another, and we also have elections to choose officials and we are entitled to free speech.
