B. is the answer. Slave owners already had enough slaves, to them it was like making sure roosters stayed away from the hens, or keeping bulls and cows sperated. If they had childeren it would mean more rescources going to them for their childeren. Keeping an eye on even more would be more stressful and agitating, and it would mean that they would have more chance of escaping if there were more of them.
