A rectangular prism has volume 186.0 cubed. It is 1.6 cm high. What is the area of its base? How do you know?

The formula for the volume of a rectangular prism is V = l*w*h, length*width*height. 
Let's insert the given information into the formula.

186 = length*width*1.6

The length and the width are in the formula, and area is length*width, so you can find the area. 

Divide by 1.6 on both sides.
116.25 = length*width
116.25 = Area

The area is 116.25 cm^3
