Hello!

First you have to find what you do to x to get y

To do this you divide the y value by the x value

35 / 14 = 2.5

This means they multiplied x by 2.5 to get y

Do this to the new x value to get y

16 * 2.5 = 40

The answer is 40

Hope this helps!

Since x and y vary directly,

Y = 35 = 14 ( divide )
Y = 2.5
Y = 2.5 x 16
Y = 40.
